Taman Desa Indah Residents' Association treasurer Kamarul Sulaiman said the open burning had taken a toll on the health of nearby residents and polluted the air around Selayang and Batu Caves.
"Many residents have fallen sick, especially those with respiratory problems because of the smoke."
"Before this, it was just the stench from the site."
Kamarul said the association had complained to the Selayang Municipal Council and the Department of Environment but no action was taken to clear up the site.
